Fundraising Fire Walk for Wadars (World’s End pub in Patching)
This is your chance to do the craziest event ever. Walk barefoot over 15ft of red hot glowing embers at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. Walking registration at 6.30pm - fire lit at 8.30pm. Clymping Jubilee Festival Garden Weekend (St Mary's Church Hall, Church Lane, Clymping)

The Story of Swallowfield - a talk (John de Bohun Room, Woodlands Centre)
Tony Turner tells the true story of the Biggs family, who lived on the Swallowfield estate just outside Horsham in the 19th century, together with another estate in Australia. The intriguing adventures and dramas encountered by this family were recorded in their diaries. Tony’s talk is based on his research into the family’s past, which includes infant deaths, mystery illnesses in India and bad luck.

Rustington Players present a comedy murder mystery by Alan Ayckbourn. The play is set in a country house during a thunderstorm where a family of failures are wrangling over a bequest. It has all the prime ingredients for a traditional murder-mystery thriller. But this is Alan Ayckbourn and it has a number of surprises within it and the thrills are leavened throughout with tongue in cheek humour. The play is directed by Lin and Paul Jones. In this entertaining talk, Neil Sadler describes his career as a police officer from the time he joined as a young man in 1978, via his journey through the ranks to Inspector, up to the final stage of his career, teaching at police staff college. The life of a police officer provides ample material for many amusing tales – and perhaps a few embarrassing ones. All welcome. Entry for visitors £2, RHA members £1. The reign of Queen Elizabeth II - a Timespan talk (Main Hall, Woodlands Centre, Woodlands Ave)
Rustington Heritage Association and Rustington Residents Association join forces in this Diamond Jubilee year to host a Timespan presentation evoking Her Majesty the Queen’s sixty year reign. Speakers Tony and Lizzie Gilks use objects and costumes to bring the past to life. All are welcome. Admission is £1.50 (including RRA and RHA members).

Worthing's annual model railway show will be held at Durrington High School, The Boulevard, Worthing, West Sussex, (BN13 1LA for SatNav) on 15 and 16 September 2012.

Edward Wilson, a skilful artist of nature and landscape, produced superb pictures of the Antarctic and its wildlife on two expeditions with Captain Scott, including the ill-fated journey in 1912 during which Wilson was one of those who died. Christopher Rudd talks about Wilson’s work and achievements. All are welcome to attend. Entry for visitors £2, RHA members £1.

Glamour, Gumboots and Guernsey Cows - a talk (John de Bohun Room, Woodlands Centre)
In both World Wars, women worked in agriculture to ensure food production was maintained while men were on active service in the armed forces. The Women’s Land Army was formed in June 1939, initially with volunteers, but thanks to conscription it rose to over 80,000 members by 1944. Many of its members had no experience of the countryside and faced numerous challenges. In this illustrated talk, Steve Harris tells the story of the Land Girls. All welcome. The Mary Rose - an illustrated talk (John de Bohun Room, Woodlands Centre)
The Mary Rose, Henry VIII’s favourite warship, was built in Portsmouth in 1510, but after 35 years of active service she was attacked in the Solent and sank to the seabed. There she lay for four centuries, until raised to the surface in 1982. The painstaking work of preservation then began, a process which still continues. Trevor Sapey of the Mary Rose Trust presents an illustrated talk on this “Tudor time-capsule”. All are welcome. RHA members £1, visitors £2.
